For newcomers to DotNetNuke, the most common way to start skinning is using the HTML method.  However, at times, this can be frustrating as combined with the HTML, to be comlpetely synchronised, some XML is required so the enhancements you want to apply to the skin are picked up in the uploading process.  This can be somewhat confusing for beginners, but it need not be when you understand a few small steps required to combine the skinning process together.
